Microsoft CSP Partner Program Updates โ€” September & Early October 2026
September closed the FY27 transition โ€” promotions ended, growth margins took over. October 13 is the next hard deadline.

Everything Microsoft CSPs and MSPs need to know: growth margins are live and the promo era has ended, the Frontier Partner specialization opens, Copilot is rebuilt around Home/Code/Autopilot, Office LTSC 2021 support ends in days, Sentinel auto-onboarding begins, and nonprofit Copilot promotions stack for the first time.

Act Now โ€” Office LTSC 2021 Support Ends in 8 Days
September was the month the FY27 transition finished. The promotional discounts that defined the last two years ended on September 30, and growth margins went live on October 1 โ€” a different economic model with a different set of behaviours rewarded. Alongside that, Microsoft opened two new specializations, rebuilt what Copilot even is, and consolidated four separate ISV programmes into one. But the single most time-critical item in this edition isn't any of those. Office LTSC 2021, Project LTSC 2021, and Visio LTSC 2021 reach end of support on October 13, 2026 โ€” the nearest hard deadline in this edition, and one of the few left that you can still do something about. If you have customers still running perpetual Office, that conversation needed to start last month. It needs to happen now.

Critical Deadlines and Actions

  • [NOW LIVE] โ€” CSP Growth Margins: Generally available since October 1. Eligible transactions can now receive growth margins. Eligibility validation and SKU discovery have been available through APIs and the Pricing workspace since September 23.
  • [NOW LIVE] โ€” Frontier Partner Specialization: Open to all eligible partners since September 30. Validates agentic AI delivery across Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, GitHub Copilot, Defender, Entra, and Purview.
  • [NOW LIVE] โ€” Clinical Applications Specialization: Available since September 30 for partners deploying Dragon Copilot in healthcare.
  • [NOW LIVE] โ€” Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace: Available since September 28, combining ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, Azure IP co-sell, and certified software designations into one experience.
  • [ALREADY PASSED] โ€” Promotions Ended September 30: Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E7, and Copilot promotions ended with the transition to growth margins. If you have customers expecting promotional pricing on a quote drafted in September, that pricing no longer exists.
  • [ALREADY PASSED] โ€” Check Inventory API Retired September 25: If your integration still calls the old endpoint, it has already broken. Migrate to Check Inventory by Resource Type.
  • October 13, 2026 [IMMINENT] โ€” Office LTSC 2021, Project LTSC 2021, and Visio LTSC 2021 End of Support: No further updates, security fixes, or technical support after this date.
  • October 13, 2026 [IMMINENT] โ€” Partner Digital Airlift: Session on the new Copilot, AI FinOps, and platform innovations. Registration open now.
  • November 15, 2026 [PLAN AHEAD] โ€” Release Planner Retired: Business Applications roadmap content moves to the AI at Work roadmap; Release Plans archived on Microsoft Learn.
  • November 17โ€“20, 2026 [REGISTER NOW] โ€” Microsoft Ignite: In person and online. Session catalog is live and sessions fill quickly.
  • December 31, 2026 [PLAN AHEAD] โ€” Nonprofit Copilot Promotions End: The new stackable nonprofit offers run through year end.
  • March 31, 2027 [PLAN AHEAD] โ€” Microsoft Sentinel Azure Portal Retires: The unified experience in the Defender portal becomes the only option.
  • Later in FY27 [WATCH] โ€” Unified for Partners Full Release: The modern support offering is scheduled for full release later this fiscal year.

Team Playbooks โ€” What Each Function Needs to Do

๐Ÿ”ฝ Sales Team

This Week:

  • Identify every customer still running Office LTSC 2021, Project LTSC 2021, or Visio LTSC 2021 and start the migration conversation before October 13. Lead with Microsoft 365 E3 for enterprise, Business Premium or Business Standard for customers under 300 users.
  • Flag to any customer who received a September quote with E5, E7, or Copilot promotional pricing that those promotions ended September 30 โ€” before they discover it at the point of purchase.

This month:

  • Rebuild your Copilot pitch around growth margins rather than discount. The lever has changed from price to sustained deployment and seat growth.
  • If you serve nonprofits, review the new stackable Copilot promotions โ€” eligible customers can now combine 15%, 20%, 30%, or 40% offers on top of the existing 15% nonprofit offer, which was not previously possible.
  • Use the refreshed ASPX Copilot Opportunities tab to find free-to-paid conversion signals and E7 expansion candidates rather than working from broad account lists.

๐Ÿ”ฝ Billing Team

Immediate:

  • Confirm your growth margins eligibility validation is working through the API or Pricing workspace, and that your quoting tools reflect post-promotion pricing.
  • Re-download the September 2026 CSP price list if you pulled it before September 8 โ€” Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 ESU Year 1โ€“3 offers were added in the republish.
  • Re-download the August 2026 price list if you haven't since the correction โ€” Windows Server 2016 ESU pricing was wrong in the original and was corrected in Partner Center as of September 8.

This quarter:

  • Evaluate the flex spend plan sandbox construct โ€” monthly billing against a full-year commitment, auto-renewal, and a single agreement covering multiple products. Microsoft plans to reuse this construct for future consumption products.
  • Review Marketplace purchase order mapping if you have listings and customers with procurement-driven buying processes.

๐Ÿ”ฝ Security / Compliance Team

Immediate:

  • Review every managed Sentinel customer with multiple workspaces before automatic onboarding reaches them. Microsoft selects one primary workspace, and XDR-dependent content in secondary workspaces may stop working.
  • Migrate analytics rules, automation rules, playbooks, and workbooks from secondary workspaces to the primary workspace where you need them preserved.
  • For special handling or to request a different primary workspace, email MSSP-Sentinel-Support@microsoft.com with the tenant ID and preferred workspace resource ID.

This quarter:

  • Plan for the Microsoft Sentinel Azure portal retirement on March 31, 2027.
  • Assess whether the Frontier Partner specialization fits your security practice โ€” it spans Defender, Entra, and Purview alongside the AI stack.

๐Ÿ”ฝ Azure / Cloud Practice Team

This month:

  • Verify your Check Inventory API migration is complete. The old endpoint retired September 25.
  • Review Frontier Partner specialization requirements if you deliver agentic AI โ€” benefits include Agent pre-purchase plan (P3) credits, Microsoft 365 E7 licensing, and co-sell eligibility.
  • If you're a software development company, evaluate Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace, including the Premium tier's up to $30,000 USD in Azure sponsorships.

๐Ÿ”ฝ Programme / Membership Management

  • Register for Microsoft Ignite (November 17โ€“20) and build team agendas now โ€” sessions fill quickly.
  • Register for the October 13 Partner Digital Airlift on the new Copilot.
  • Update internal references to Release Plans and Release Planner ahead of the November 15 retirement; point customers to the AI at Work roadmap.
  • Evaluate the Support Services designation ahead of the Unified for Partners full release later in FY27.

Bottom Line for September 2026
September closed the FY27 transition that July opened. The promotional pricing model ended on September 30 and growth margins replaced it on October 1 โ€” and the two reward fundamentally different behaviour. Discounting rewarded the partner who cut price hardest at the point of sale; growth margins reward the partner who grows seats and sustains deployment over time. If your motion was built on the former, this quarter will be uncomfortable. Underneath that, Microsoft spent September building the scaffolding for what comes next: two new specializations tied to agentic AI and healthcare, a unified ISV programme replacing four separate ones, and a rebuilt Copilot that treats AI as something that does work rather than something that assists with it. The nearest-term action, though, is the least glamorous one. Office LTSC 2021 support ends October 13, and every customer still on perpetual Office is both a security exposure and a migration opportunity sitting in your base right now.

What's in This Edition

If July was the FY27 reset and August was the enforcement scaffolding, September was the handover. The promotional era formally ended on the 30th, growth margins took over on the 1st, and the gap between those two dates is where a lot of partners will discover their pipeline assumptions were built on pricing that no longer exists.

The more interesting story is what Microsoft built alongside that. Two new specializations opened on September 30 โ€” Frontier Partner for agentic AI delivery, and Clinical Applications for Dragon Copilot in healthcare. Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace collapsed four separate ISV programmes into one. And on September 25, Microsoft announced a fundamentally restructured Copilot built around three surfaces rather than one chat box.

There's also a cluster of operational items that are easy to miss and expensive to ignore: Sentinel automatic onboarding has begun for managed customers, the Check Inventory API has already retired, two price lists were republished with corrections, and the Business Applications roadmap is moving to a new home with Release Planner retiring in November.

Growth Margins Are Live โ€” and the Promo Era Is Over

October 1 Changed the Economics, Not Just the Pricing

CSP license-based growth margins became generally available on October 1, 2026. Eligible transactions can now receive growth margins, and partners have had early access since September 23 to validate customer eligibility through the eligibility API and to discover eligible SKUs and minimum seat requirements through the Pricing workspace in Partner Center.

The other half of this transition is the part that will generate customer conversations you'd rather not have: Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E7, and Copilot promotions ended on September 30 as part of the move to growth margins.

That's a clean handover on paper. In practice, any quote your team issued in September carrying promotional pricing is now quoting something that doesn't exist.

๐Ÿšจ
Tip: Run a pipeline audit this week specifically for quotes issued between September 1 and 30 that included E5, E7, or Copilot promotional pricing and haven't yet converted. Those customers need to hear the pricing has changed from you, proactively, with the growth margin story as the replacement โ€” not from a procurement system rejecting a stale quote.
Action Required
  • Validate customer eligibility through the eligibility API and download eligible SKU and seat-minimum information from the Pricing workspace.
  • Audit open September quotes for expired promotional pricing and contact those customers before they discover it themselves.
  • Retrain your sales team on the growth margin model โ€” the pitch shifts from "here's a discount" to "here's what sustained growth earns."
  • Review the CSP offers and promotions page for what remains available.

Office LTSC 2021 End of Support โ€” October 13

Eight Days, and Every Affected Customer Is a Migration Opportunity

Support for Office LTSC 2021, Project LTSC 2021, and Visio LTSC 2021 ends October 13, 2026. After that date these products receive no updates, no security fixes, and no technical support. Microsoft's framing is direct: continuing on unsupported versions exposes organizations to security vulnerabilities, compliance risk, and reduced reliability.

The recommended paths depend on customer size:

  • Enterprise customers โ†’ Microsoft 365 E3 as the primary path, with Office 365 E3 or Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise as fallbacks.
  • Under 300 users โ†’ Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Business Standard, or Microsoft 365 Apps for business.
  • Project and Visio โ†’ Planner and Project Plan 3, and Visio Plan 2, layered on top of Microsoft 365 suites.

Two details worth carrying into the conversation: Microsoft 365 Copilot is supported only on cloud-backed apps included in Microsoft 365 suites โ€” on-premises Office is not eligible. And the Azure Information Protection labeling client for perpetual Office has been retired, which matters for any customer using it for classification.

Where regulatory, connectivity, or technical constraints genuinely prevent a cloud move, Office LTSC 2024, Project LTSC 2024, and Visio LTSC 2024 are the supported on-premises alternatives.

๐Ÿšจ
Tip: The Copilot eligibility point is the strongest commercial lever here, not the security warning. A customer on perpetual Office isn't just unsupported after October 13 โ€” they're structurally locked out of every AI conversation you want to have with them. That reframes the migration from a compliance chore into the prerequisite for everything else.
Action Required
  • Build a list of every customer still running Office, Project, or Visio LTSC 2021 โ€” do this today, not after the date.
  • Lead with Microsoft 365 E3 for enterprise and Business Premium for SMB; use Office 365 E3 or Apps for enterprise only where E3 genuinely doesn't fit.
  • Assess connectivity, regulatory, and offline constraints before assuming cloud is viable for every customer.
  • For genuinely constrained customers, position Office LTSC 2024 rather than leaving them unsupported.

Frontier Partner Specialization Now Live

The Agentic AI Credential, With Real Benefits Attached

Since September 30, all eligible partners can earn the new Frontier Partner specialization, which validates the ability to design, build, deploy, govern, and secure AI agents across the full Microsoft Frontier Transformation stack โ€” Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra, and Microsoft Purview.

This is the successor to the Frontier Partner badge, which retires at the end of June 2027. Unlike the badge, the specialization carries a meaningful benefits package:

  • A customer-facing Frontier Partner specialization badge
  • Eligibility for Frontier-aligned co-sell opportunities
  • Microsoft Agent pre-purchase plan (P3) credits and Microsoft 365 E7 licensing
  • Packaged go-to-market resources, including marketing campaigns and case study opportunities
  • MAICPP Concierge support through qualification and audit
๐Ÿ’ก
Tip:The P3 credits and E7 licensing are the line items worth modelling before you decide. For a practice already investing in agentic AI delivery, those two benefits alone can offset a meaningful share of the attainment cost โ€” which changes the business case from "another credential to maintain" into something closer to cost-neutral.
Action Required
  • Review the Frontier Partner specialization requirements and map your current position against them.
  • Model the benefit value (P3 credits, E7 licensing, co-sell eligibility) against attainment and audit cost before committing.
  • If you hold the retiring Frontier Partner badge, treat this as your transition path rather than a parallel option.
  • Contact your Partner Development Manager for questions on requirements or benefits.

The New Copilot โ€” Home, Code, and Autopilot

A Structural Change, Not a Feature Update

On September 25, Microsoft announced a restructured Copilot that combines three capabilities into one experience:

  • Home โ€” where Chat and Cowork come together with the full power of Office
  • Code โ€” extending solution-building to every knowledge worker, not just developers
  • Autopilot โ€” a persistent, proactive, personal agent hosted in the cloud

Alongside the product change comes a commercial one. User subscriptions cover everyday Copilot value, while usage-based billing gives customers flexibility for advanced capabilities, and FinOps for AI introduces ways to govern costs and tie spending to business outcomes.

The new Copilot is rolling out through the Frontier program, with capabilities arriving continuously rather than in a single release.

For partners, the opportunity Microsoft describes is process redesign, solution building and integration, adoption, and managing AI at scale โ€” which is a services story more than a licensing one.

๐Ÿ’ก
Tip: The commercial model change deserves more attention than the feature list. Usage-based billing alongside user subscriptions means customer spend becomes variable and harder to forecast โ€” which creates a genuine advisory opening around AI FinOps, but also means your own margin modelling on Copilot engagements needs revisiting before customers scale usage.
Action Required

Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace โ€” Four Programmes Become One

A Unified Path for Software Development Companies

Available since September 28, Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace consolidates ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, Azure IP co-sell, and certified software designations into a single experience for building, publishing, growing, and differentiating on Microsoft Marketplace.

What it provides:

  • Trusted expertise โ€” Microsoft guidance to bring AI-powered apps and agents to market faster
  • Savings and investments โ€” milestone-based benefits including up to $30,000 USD in Azure sponsorships with the Premium tier
  • Skilled teams โ€” Marketplace-focused skilling at every growth stage

The Premium tier adds immediate access to Partner Marketing Center Pro โ€” an AI-powered marketing hub โ€” plus a named engagement manager.

Action Required
  • Explore benefits and eligibility requirements, then enroll.
  • If you were enrolled in ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, or Azure IP co-sell separately, map how your existing benefits carry into the unified programme.
  • Evaluate whether Premium's $30,000 Azure sponsorship and Partner Marketing Center Pro access justify the upgrade for your Marketplace roadmap.

Microsoft Sentinel Automatic Onboarding Has Begun

Managed Customers Move to the Defender Portal โ€” With a Workspace Catch

Starting in September 2026, Microsoft began automatically onboarding managed customers that hadn't moved to the unified Microsoft Sentinel experience in the Defender portal. Microsoft handles scheduling, customer notifications, and technical onboarding. Affected tenant administrators receive an in-portal banner and admin email roughly 30 days before their onboarding date. Existing third-party connectors, content, and data remain in place.

The catch is for customers with multiple Sentinel workspaces. Microsoft selects one primary workspace for Defender XDR alerts and incidents, and XDR-dependent content in secondary workspaces might stop functioning once the primary is established.

๐Ÿ’ก
Tip: This is the kind of change that surfaces as a mysterious broken alert rule three weeks after onboarding, with no obvious cause. Audit your multi-workspace Sentinel customers now and document which analytics rules, automation rules, playbooks, and workbooks live outside what will become the primary workspace โ€” before the 30-day notice arrives, not after.
Action Required

Nonprofit Copilot Promotions โ€” Stacking Is Now Allowed

A Genuine Change, Not Just a New Discount

New nonprofit-specific CSP promotions let eligible nonprofit customers combine promotional offers of 15%, 20%, 30%, and 40% on top of the existing 15% nonprofit promotional offer included with the Microsoft 365 Copilot SKU.

The structural change matters more than the percentages: previously, customers could access either nonprofit pricing or a commercial promotion โ€” not both. Now eligible nonprofits can receive both.

These promotions run through December 31, 2026.

Action Required
  • Review the CSP Nonprofit Copilot Readiness Kit and FAQ.
  • Confirm customer eligibility, base SKU, pricing type, and promotional ID requirements before transacting โ€” stacking has conditions.
  • Revisit nonprofit customers who previously declined Copilot on price; the combined offer may change the answer.

Clinical Applications Specialization โ€” Dragon Copilot for Healthcare

A Narrow Specialization With Broad Benefits

Since September 30, eligible partners can earn the Clinical Applications specialization, recognizing proven expertise deploying Dragon Copilot for healthcare customers.

Attainment unlocks co-sell and referral eligibility with Microsoft sellers, funding opportunities, Azure bulk credits, deployment support, and go-to-market assets for scaling a healthcare practice.

This pairs with the Dragon Copilot physician apps and agents Marketplace channel that opened in August โ€” the specialization validates delivery capability, the Marketplace offer type provides distribution.

Action Required โ€” Healthcare Practices

ASPX Becomes an Action Engine

Five FY27 Priorities, and an API That Finally Makes Sense

ASPX is shifting from a reporting tool to what Microsoft calls an action engine, surfacing signals on customer readiness, adoption barriers, and opportunities across the Copilot journey. Five FY27 priorities:

  • Free-to-paid โ€” high-intent signals including license requests and users hitting free usage limits, so paid Copilot conversations target accounts already showing demand
  • Microsoft 365 E7 targeting โ€” prioritize expansion using telemetry, usage, and licensing data rather than broad account lists
  • Copilot Cowork usage โ€” identify customers already realizing value and focus where adoption is accelerating
  • Frontier account targeting โ€” signals highlighting tenants positioned for the next wave of AI workloads
  • API v1.5 โ€” reduced from more than 80 endpoints to four, with streaming and improved documentation
๐Ÿ’ก
Tip: The API consolidation from 80+ endpoints to four is the quiet headline for anyone who's previously abandoned an ASPX integration as too much work. If your team looked at this a year ago and walked away, it's worth a second look โ€” the integration cost has changed by an order of magnitude.
Action Required

Copilot Cowork Activation Incentive

A New Earning Opportunity, Live Since September 1

Microsoft launched the Copilot Cowork CSP Activation Incentive on September 1, rewarding partners for driving customer adoption and usage of Copilot Cowork. It combines with existing CSP incentives, giving indirect resellers and direct bill partners an additional earning path alongside what they already earn.

Action Required
  • Review the opportunity in the incentives guide.
  • Identify customers with Cowork entitlements but low activation โ€” that's where this incentive pays.

Retired APIs, republished price lists, and a margin model that changed overnight โ€” this is exactly the operational overhead that eats partner teams' time. Hybr handles CSP billing, reconciliation, and subscription management so your team can stay on the customer conversations instead.

Operational Changes โ€” APIs, Price Lists, and Roadmaps

Check Inventory API Retired September 25

The previous Check Inventory API (/v1/extensions/product/checkinventory) retired on September 25, 2026. Partners should have migrated to Check Inventory by Resource Type (/v1/extensions/product/checkinventorybyresourcetype), which requires a resourceType parameter and enables more scalable inventory checks without changing the API response contract.

If your integration still calls the old endpoint, it has already stopped working. Review the Check Inventory by Resource Type documentation.

Two Price List Republishes

Windows Server 2016 ESU pricing was wrong in the original August 2026 CSP price list. The correction appears in Partner Center and the refreshed price list as of September 8. Affected products: Extended Security Updates for Windows Server Standard Core (DG7GMGF0HPVV) and DC Core (DG7GMGF0HPVW). Disregard the previously published pricing.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 ESU Year 1โ€“3 offers (DG7GMGDZQ4KS) were missing from the September price list at regular publication due to a publishing delay, and were added in a September 8 republish.

Business Applications Roadmap Moving

Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse roadmap content is moving to the AI at Work roadmap, creating a single destination alongside Microsoft 365, Copilot, and agents. Microsoft is moving from twice-yearly release waves to continuous roadmap communications.

There is no September 2026 Release Wave 2 announcement. Release Plans will be archived on Microsoft Learn and Release Planner retires by November 15, 2026. Roadmap data is also available through the Microsoft Release Communications MCP Server at no cost and without sign-in.

This affects roadmap communications only โ€” product release schedules, deployment processes, Message Center notifications, and product documentation are unchanged.

Action Required
  • Confirm your Check Inventory API migration is complete; the old endpoint is already dead.
  • Re-download both the corrected August and the republished September price lists.
  • Update internal references to Release Plans and Release Planner; point customers to the AI at Work roadmap.
  • Review the MCP Server documentation if you want roadmap data in your own tooling.

Coming in FY27 โ€” Support, Consumption, and Marketplace

Unified for Partners

Unified for Partners (UfP) is a modern support offering scheduled for full release later in FY27. It's built to help partners resolve more issues in-house through stronger diagnostics, knowledge resources, support orchestration, customer success practice builders, and access to Microsoft expertise when needed โ€” with a growth-aligned approach that scales with a CSP business. Partners can differentiate further by attaining a Support Services designation.

Flex Spend Plan Sandbox

Since September 1, a storage and database test product called the flex spend plan has been available in the sandbox environment. It supports a single agreement covering multiple eligible products, monthly billing rather than full upfront prepayment, coverage across a full-year commitment period, and auto-renewal. Trials, promotions, and incentive structures aren't available with the sandbox product.

This isn't a final production offer โ€” but Microsoft plans to reuse the same construct for other consumption products, so integration work now is readiness for later.

Marketplace Purchase Order Mapping

Customers can now align Marketplace purchases with existing procurement and financial processes through purchase order mapping, allocating Marketplace spend to specific business needs and connecting to procurement systems.

Dynamics 365 Activate

A limited public preview of an AI-assisted migration tool focused on Salesforce-to-Dynamics 365 migrations. It analyzes data, processes, customizations, and dependencies to give implementation teams a clearer transformation blueprint. ERP and other scenarios follow later.

Action Required

Windows 365 Frontline Renamed to Windows 365 Flex

Branding Only โ€” Nothing Changes for Existing Customers

Effective September 3, 2026, all Windows 365 Frontline SKUs are renamed Windows 365 Flex. Purchases under the "Frontline" name remain available only through September 2. This is purely a naming update: no change to functionality, licensing, entitlements, provisioning, or billing. Existing Cloud PCs are unaffected and require no license reassignment.

Action Required
  • Update any internal documentation, reports, automation, scripts, or ticketing workflows that reference "Windows 365 Frontline" once the rename appears in your tenant.
  • Refresh customer-facing materials and quoting templates ahead of the September 3 switch.
  • Validate any custom reporting or inventory tooling that displays service-plan names after the rollout completes.

Events โ€” Ignite, Airlift, and a New Monthly Series

Microsoft Ignite โ€” November 17โ€“20, 2026, in person and online. The session catalog is live. Microsoft's framing is that customers are moving from AI experimentation to adoption at scale and want partners who can embed agents, intelligence, and trust across their businesses. Build your agenda.

Partner Digital Airlift โ€” October 13, 2026. Covers the new Copilot, AI FinOps enhancements, and platform innovations. Register.

Partnering for Success Together โ€” a new monthly partner skilling session on the Microsoft Partner Skilling Hub, which began September 23. Covers updates across Microsoft's commercial solution areas, partner enablement investments, and go-to-market guidance.

Action Required
  • Register for Ignite and build team agendas now โ€” sessions fill quickly.
  • Register for the October 13 Airlift, particularly if Copilot is central to your practice.
  • Add Partnering for Success Together to your team's monthly rhythm.

10 Questions CSPs Should Be Asking Right Now

1) Growth margins are live. What do I actually need to do differently?

The mechanics first: validate eligibility through the API and pull eligible SKUs and seat minimums from the Pricing workspace. The harder change is the pitch. Promotional discounting rewarded closing fast at a cut price; growth margins reward seat growth and sustained deployment. If your team's muscle memory is "what's the discount," that needs retraining this month.

2) I have September quotes with E5 or Copilot promotional pricing that haven't closed. What happens?

Those promotions ended September 30. The pricing on those quotes no longer exists. Contact those customers before they find out at the point of purchase โ€” a proactive call explaining the transition lands very differently than a rejected order.

3) Office LTSC 2021 support ends October 13. Is it too late to do anything useful?

No, but it's late. You almost certainly can't complete a migration in the time remaining, but you can get the conversation started, scope the work, and make sure the customer understands the exposure. Microsoft's own guidance says partners should have begun proactive outreach well before now โ€” so the realistic goal is a committed migration plan by October 13, not a completed migration.

4) Why would a customer on perpetual Office care about Copilot eligibility?

Because it's the part that doesn't resolve itself. Security exposure is abstract to many customers until something happens. "You cannot run Copilot on this" is concrete, immediate, and gets worse every quarter as AI capability becomes a baseline expectation rather than a differentiator.

5) Is the Frontier Partner specialization worth pursuing, or is it another badge to maintain?

Model the benefits before deciding. Agent pre-purchase plan (P3) credits and Microsoft 365 E7 licensing are real value, not just a logo. For a practice already delivering agentic AI, those can substantially offset attainment cost. For a practice that isn't, the specialization won't manufacture capability you don't have.

6) The new Copilot has three surfaces now. Does this change what I sell?

It changes what you deliver more than what you sell. Home, Code, and Autopilot expand the surface area for process redesign, integration, and adoption work. The commercial model change โ€” usage-based billing alongside user subscriptions โ€” is the bigger operational shift, because customer spend becomes variable and needs active governance.

7) My customer has multiple Sentinel workspaces. What breaks?

Microsoft picks one primary workspace for Defender XDR alerts and incidents, and XDR-dependent content in secondary workspaces may stop functioning. Audit which analytics rules, automation rules, playbooks, and workbooks sit outside the likely primary, and migrate what matters. You get about 30 days' notice before onboarding, but the audit is better done now.

8) Nonprofit Copilot promotions can stack now. How much does that actually change?

Materially, for price-sensitive nonprofits. Previously a customer chose nonprofit pricing or a commercial promotion. Now eligible nonprofits get both โ€” the existing 15% nonprofit offer plus a 15%, 20%, 30%, or 40% promotion. Check eligibility, base SKU, pricing type, and promotional ID carefully, because stacking has conditions.

9) I never migrated off the Check Inventory API. How bad is it?

It retired September 25, so whatever depends on it has already stopped working. Migrate to Check Inventory by Resource Type immediately. The response contract is unchanged, so the migration is mostly adding a resourceType parameter rather than a rewrite.

10) Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace replaced four programmes I was in. Do I lose anything?

The four โ€” ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, Azure IP co-sell, and certified software designations โ€” are consolidated into one experience rather than cancelled. Review the benefits and eligibility documentation to map how your existing position carries over, and assess whether Premium's up to $30,000 in Azure sponsorships and Partner Marketing Center Pro access justify the upgrade.
